PUSH BACK THE DARKNESS
Darkness cannot drive out darkness;
Only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate;
Only love can do that.
-- Martin Luther King, Jr.
On January 29th 2017, a dark event in Canadian history occurred when a mosque in Quebec City was targeted by a terrorist attack. That day, the darkness of ignorance and hate cost the lives of 6 people, injured 19 others, and left 17 children without their fathers.
The goal of the Push Back The Darkness initiative is to push back the darkness of ignorance and hate with the light of knowledge and friendship. This will involve several things:
January 29th at 8pm: A light in every window
Across the country, we are asking people to place a light in their windows on January 29th at 8pm local time. This will be a symbol of your commitment to push back the darkness of ignorance and hate in your community
